This little hutch of mine, I'm going let it shine, let it shine, let it shine.......

I found this hutch at a yard sale for $1.00.  It had wonderful bones but shelves were missing, no back was attached, and no drawers or glass.  I loved it so much that I had gentlemen that I bought it from attach it to my van rack.  They looked at me as if I was crazy when I asked them if they could do that for me.   When you want something bad enough you will figure out a way to get!  Our neighbor and my hubby took it off when I got home.  Our neighbor said to me "Man, you gotta stop buying stuff".  Some men don't have much vision when it comes to treasure hunting.  I'm so glad my hubby gets it!

After:

The back of this hutch is decoupaged with a 1969 Vintage Dress Pattern.

Several painting techniques.  I painted teal, then white, and then distressed it heavily.  Then I used Early American Stain.  I wiped on and then wiped off.  Then I sealed the entire piece.

These beautiful boxes I came a crossed was my inspiration for this hutch.

The saying on this box is so true.  It's not as important about how big your house but the love that's in your home.

This has been my one of favorite projects.  If you would like to see more of my work go to Tattered Butterfly.

Be Your Own Kind of Beautiful,

Debbi

  2. I love it! Great vision! Love the back and the wire you put in the doors. Do you think that wire is easier to work with than chicken wire? {I just did a memo board with chicken wire for the first time}. I'd invite that neighbor to see it transformed and see if he still thinks you should stop buying stuff!

Visiting from the textile party! : )
